Poem: “Liquid Jaguar”

In the morning, crawl out of bed.
Brush her teeth. Clear her head.
Drive. Strive. Thrive. Barely alive.
So much easier to star-swing when night falls.
That’s when the chemicals have balls.

Dani-baby’s world in a box.
Tied up with a pretty red bow.
Give the masquerade a whirl.
Watch the liquid jaguar girl
go down, go down.

Years ago, she smudged the lines
’Tween fantasy, reason and rhyme.
It seemed a good idea at the time.
But now, the music’s on the inside.
Her life is just a pantomime.

She gets her kicks on the dancefloor.
And lives erotic prose.
Angels and poets take her to her knees.
She learned long ago
that crows are too damned hard to please.

Dani-baby’s world in a box.
Tied up with a pretty red bow.
Give the masquerade a whirl.
Watch the liquid jaguar girl
go down, go down.

Dani-baby’s world in a box.
Tied with a pretty red bow.
Give the masquerade a whirl.
Watch the liquid jaguar girl
go down, go down.
